Antitrust
The Sherman Act, which promulgates the basic
antitrust law, was designed to prohibit monopolistic
business practices as well as restraint of trade
practices such as contracts and conspiracies that
interfere with free trade. This act seeks to ensure
that markets operate according to the principle
of free and open competition and it is mainly concerned
with price-fixing and abuse of a dominant (or monopolistic)
position. |
